The work of Mr. Spitsyn was previously very valuable by a diligent collection of material for the entire territory from Kuban to Bessarabia.

In the section "Historical works" we publish a review "A systematic description of the manuscripts of the Moscow Synodal (patriarchal) library" (1896).
The manuscripts are laid out in a systematic manner – the Holy Scriptures, the works of the holy fathers, books of liturgical, canonical, historical, collections, classical literature, diplomas and letters.

Such a devastation of life, the suppression of the people’s, social elements and the immeasurable decline of all forces – economic, cultural, all kinds of creative energy – characterizes entire our land.

Przemysl is the last large Ukrainian city in the west, the fortress of the Ukrainian land on the border with the Poles.

This time the historical and philosophical section of our Society suffered the loss. One of the few of its members-historians – Dr. Ostap Terletsky was not among them.

The author speaks with his theory of Indo-European pra-motherland: it lay in North-Western Europe, occupying the coast and the islands of the Baltic and North Sea.

In the section "Historical works" we publish a review "A systematic description of the Slavic-Russian manuscripts from the collection of Count A.S. Uvarov" (1896).
The fourth volume, published after the death of the compiler, was the end a monumental description of the famous Count Uvarov’s collection of manuscripts.

We are convinced that the masses of the Kholmshchyna, liberated from any administrative guardianship, are put in good circumstance for their economic, cultural and national life, will re-emerge vital forces.

Chernigiv is the old capital of the Ukrainian Zadernoprovia. In the most ancient memoirs of the chronicler, it is the most important city in the Trans-Dnieper region at the beginning of the X century, therefore, a thousand years ago.

The section "Biographies. Obituaries" is replenished with obituary "In memory of Alexander Lazarevsky" (1902).
The deceased belonged to the prominent representatives of the scientific movement, which, beginning with the revival of Ukrainophilism in the late 1850’s, puts in place the foundations for the scientific historiography of Ukraine-Rus.

Who could be that Gertrude and that Peter, her son? – Yaropolk-Petro Izyaslavich, son of Izyaslav Yaroslavich of Kyiv, and his mother Gertruda, Izyaslav’s wife, sister of the Polish prince Kazimierz.

Unfortunately, it is as if the task clearly and definitely set is far from being accomplished in this “Jubilee Collection”. The volume and value of work that lies before us is far from meeting the goal outlined here.

The times of that Ruthenian madness passed irrevocably, and whoever wants to go with that new free people must shake off the old traditions of that slave’s life.

Rzhyshchiv is surrounded by a beautiful cozy valley above the Dnieper. Nearly placed a monastery. It had been founded by Ukrainian lords Voronichy shortly before Khmelnytsky uprising.

The section "Biographies. Obituaries" is replenished with obituary "Mikhail Sukhomlinov – Ivan Zhdanov" (1902).
In the summer of the last [1901], the Petersburg Academy of Sciences suffered almost two losses one time: academician Sukhomlinov died on July 8, and academician Zhdanov on July 11.

This was the first news that our chroniclers found and recorded "where did the Russian land". The Russian land at that time was called Ukraine itself.

The section "Biographies. Obituaries" is replenished with obituary "Izidor Sharanevich" (1902).
The most painful, close to us loss was the death of the honored Galician historian Dr. Isidora Sharaniewicz – the deceased bid farewell to the world at night on the November 21st (December 4).

On the threshold of the new century, Nestor of Ukrainian ethnography traveled to the distant road. Matthew Simonov was one of the most typical representatives of the old Ukrainophilism.

Frpm vol. III began the biography of Andrei Kirillovich, the third son of the hetman, a Russian diplomat, whom the author describes as "the full embodiment of cosmopolitanism."

We have some versions of spelling. Each of them has its own good and bad. Everyone can hold on to what is more sweet to him, and they can quietly live next to him for some time.

Dr. Franco, however, does not agree that wider "Praise" was expansion of the "Miracle", but vice versa assumes "Miracle" a shortened excerpt from "Praise".

The place near Ovruch is called Oleg’s grave, they say that there was buried Prince Oleg, brother of Vladimir (that baptized our land).

We publish the note, that was proposed to the archaeographical commission for the publication of the corpus of materials for the history of the Cossack (1905).
This corpus would have to cover time mainly from the last quarter of the 16 century and ending in the middle of the 18 century. It has to gather material not only for the external, military and diplomatic history of the Cossack.

November 29 (December 12) 1900 after long illness asleep forever, at the 65th year of life one of the most prominent Ukrainian figures of the XIX century Alexander Konysky.

Among the heterogeneous variations of the openwork ear-rings of ancient Rus’ finds, we can indicate the types and quite close to this Caucasian ear-ring.

In the section "Historical works" we publish a review "Traveling letters of Ismail Ivanovich Sreznevsky from the Slavic lands" (1896).
It has a considerable interest regarding the modern cultural and literary life of the Slavic region, but for us it does not give anything on purpose – in Hungarian Rus’ and in Galicia, Sreznevsky was lived very short.

We can not lock into such close provincial criteria, because inevitably we will break this great Ukrainian land into particles, from which each one will have its own separate language.

In the section "Literary studies" published the review «M.G.Halansky. To the history of poetic legends about Oleg the Prophetic, І-ІІІ» (1904).
The second cardinal flaw is that the author sees in these later stories a folk tradition, an epic, ignoring the possibility (very wide) of a scribe’s combinations.

Scientific society named after Shevchenko once again turned its wheel. That wheel is hard, and one turn of it means a lot.

At the Kiev Congress of 1874 he proposed a wider abstract – "Kyiv Architecture of the X-XII Century", which still stands as the main, foremost work for ancient Ukrainian architecture.

Extreme specialism in the affairs of language, provincial patriotism, which requires that the newspaper be written in the language of his village, and all Ukrainian literature does not go beyond the vocabulary of his county.
