In the life of Ukrainian cities, the influence of Polish orders was expressed in transforming them into a type of Saxon communities of Magdeburg Law.
New article on history
In the section "Historical works" we publish a review "The history of Russian architecture" (1897).
The author comes from the Chernihiv cathedral, which he studied closer, apparently, and dedicated a special article several years ago.

In the section "Publicistics" we publish the article "Our school" (1909).
A huge, sometimes unheard percent of analphabets, terrible amounts of illiteracy recidivism are the result of this deprivation of the Ukrainian masses of the national school.

In the section "Popular works" we continue to publish "An outline history of the Ukrainian people" (1904). Today – the next 3 sections, including "X. Ukrainian lands in the 15th to 16th centuries; collection of Ukrainian lands by Poland".
Until these changes were revealed in the internal relations of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Ukrainian, just as Belarussian lands, felt here as at home.

The beloved publisher, obviously, judging by his recent abstracts, eant to give monographs the types of this hoard.

In the section "Historical works" we publish a review «Wilhelm Tomaschek. Die alten Thraker, eine etnologische Untersuchung» (1897).
New work by prof. Tomaschek gives a general overview of the Thracian people, collects their branches in the groups and briefly inspects these groups the territory and the historical destiny of each branch.

In the section "Publicistics" we publish the article "Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania" (1909).
"Slavic idea" began to function as a sign for various imperialist and chauvinistic plans, as a service for various reactionary movements and groups, mainly in Russia.

In the section "Popular works" we continue to publish "An outline history of the Ukrainian people" (1904). Today – the next 3 sections, including "VII. Principalities of XI-XIII centuries. Galician-Volyn State of the XIII-XIV centuries."
The disintegration of the Kyiv state body was manifested, as it was said, in diminishing the significance of Kyiv and the princes of Kyiv and in the separation of lands under the power of individual dynasties.

On the 11th (24th) November died in the Krekhiv monastery fellow of our magazine, the hieromonk of the order St. Basil the Great – father Aristarchus-Andriy Kryzhanovsky.

In this luxurious edition, Mr. Khanenko presents three tables from the Teraturgima by [Athanasius] Kalnfojsky: near and far caves and a general view of Kyiv.

Certain trends are observed in the Ukrainian society in Russia itself, dissatisfied with closer acquaintance with Galician life and its possible influences on Ukrainian life in Russia.

Evolution of the Rus’ state X-XI centuries went precisely in this direction the expansion and branching of the system of "Rus" governors and their garrisons, which penetrated further and further into the regions.

In August, one of the loudest German historians, Wilhelm Oncken, died. His popularity was based on the collective historical publication "Allgemeine Geschichte in Einzeldarstellungen".

We publish review "V.I. Sizov. Mounds of Smolensk Province" (1904).
Sizov intended to give a studio about the Gnezdovsky burial ground, and not a simple inventory. For this, of course, one can only be grateful to him.

In the section "Historical works" we publish a review “Report of the Moscow Public and Rumyantsev Museums for 1892-1894” (1896).
The main novelty between them is the precious Gospel-aprakos (that is, laid down in the order of a week’s reading) on parchment, written in 1282 by Popovich Eusebius in Galicia.

On September 8 (21), on the 70th anniversary of his life, one of the oldest representatives of Ukrainian ethnography – Pelagia Litvinova, born Bartosh, died in his homeland, in the village Zemljanka, Glukhiv district.

It is almost impossible to use this newer material from this article, because it is even more general, than in the previous Polish article.

Mr. Sitsinsky laid out the villages in the order of the deans; a more rational geographical distribution would be – for river basins.

All the talks about the Polish intrigue, which supposedly generated the latest Ukrainian movement or supported it, were either deliberately false, or, at best, a learned phrase.

Our task is to recreate the main features of the historical development of the Ukrainian people.

The planned multivolume edition of the History of Ukraine-Rus in a concise form was implemented in the "Essay", and later in the "Short history of Ukraine", and the "Illustrated history of Ukraine".

The section "Biographies. Obituaries" is replenished with obituary "In memory of Alexei Markevich" (1903).
Markevich’s Ukrainophilism can not be called deep, and at such a rather superficial Ukrainianophilism, he suffered greatly for Ukrainophilism.

The Slavic-Lithuanian world, although the author acknowledges its importance for these experiments, in fact is quite small known to the author.

In total, about 250 genera were taken, there are quite a few Ukrainian ones among them; generation registries filed with brief explanations.

The great Church of the Assumption, built by Mstislav Izyaslavich in the second half of the XII century, therefore, 750 years old, has become a monument to the separation of Volyn land in a separate principality.

Mr. Pavlyk argued that Dragomanov was not a supporter of "acute social activity," and he was very critical to russian revolutionism of those days.

We are not nationalists who, at any cost, would be willing to tolerate any Ukraine, whether it is a Black-Hundred, or free and gradual, as it were.

However, from the glorious antiquity in Lutsk, few monuments were preserved. Ancient churches built by the Ukrainian princes in the XI-XIII centuries and described in the old chronicles and notes, all disappeared.

Our Society suffered a new loss in the face of its long-time member and employee Thaddaeus Rylsky, who died 25 September (old style).

The predominance of theoretical design over observation and analysis is even stronger in the work of Academician Shakhmatov, which appeared almost simultaneously with the article by Mr. Spitsyn.

In village Golodki near Bar there is an icon of st. Nicholas – very ancient. A robe with an inscription of 1705; folk tradition brings this icon from a former monastery, which was in Golodki.

Still, it is a pure falsehood that the Ukrainian youth is so enthralled with a political party that has lost all scientific interests and has ceased to give out units of scientific qualifications among themselves.

And in Ovruch he set up a beautiful church of St. Basil, in his name, for then the princes usually had two names, one ecclesiastical, Christian, and the second folk – and Rurik had the church name Basil.

The circle of researchers of Ukrainian history, gathered near the "Kyivan antiquity," suffered a new painful loss in the person of a long-time and active employee of his Alexei A. Andrievsky.
